Jackie Greene

Jacqueline (Jackie) Davis Greene was born in New Castle Indiana and currently resides in Hickory North Carolina. “Fishing is something I’ve loved since I sat on the dock in Northern Indiana as a small child of five (5). Day after day, all day, I sat there and fished. Once fishing is in your blood it becomes your drug.” She was salutatorian of her class at Faith Connection Bible School and considers working with women cancer patients to be her Ministry. She has taught a Senior Sunday School Class and was the High School and College Youth Leader for Freedom Assembly Church for 5 years. Jackie has three sons, Will, Kenneth and Matthew and four grandchildren Chelsey Macie, Laney and Landon. She has experienced her share of bad times dealing with cancer and losses in the family but she has always managed to relaunch herself. She became a “fly fisher” after setting up a camper on Wilson Creek. Her largest trout caught on a fly so far is a 10–pounder, caught on private waters.

She has served in many capacities with Casting Carolina’s since 2015 including Participant Coordinator, Hospitality Coordinator, Casting Instructor, Fishing Guide, Fund Raiser and member of the Board of Directors. She is passionate about working with women cancer survivors and “giving back” to those in need of attention while undergoing recovery. Fly fishing has become her primary tool of her Ministry. She has interviewed on TV, radio and magazines for her cause. Jackie also has served in several positions with Hickory Trout Unlimited Chapter including Chairing the Women’s Initiative, Vice President and is currently the first female President of Hickory Trout Unlimited Chapter. Jackie is a board member at-large with the North Carolina Council of Trout Unlimited. She also works with the environmental program, A Clean Wilson Creek, where the people along the creek know her as ” the lady who fishes”.

Jackie is recognized for her countless hours at promoting the museum through fund raising, programming and developing the museum fly fishing Museum Hall of Fame and the Lagers with Legends event, turning the event into a weekend affair. She has driven many miles from Hickory to Bryson City to plan and execute the Museum Hall of Fame event since it’s inception.
