Jen Ripple

Jen Ripple was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and lives in Dover, Tennessee. She is Editor-in-Chief and Publisher of the international fly fishing lifestyle magazine, DUN Magazine, growing to a following in over 150 countries and over 100,000 subscribers. She writes the Fly Fishing Women’s Buyer’s Guide for Outside Magazine and the Women’s Best Of column for Gray’s Sporting Journal as well as articles for Game & Fish, Florida Sportsman, American Angler, FlyFisher Magazine, and others.

Jen is a Principal for Fly Squared Media, which produces fly fishing and fly tying videos, an outdoor web, and publishes outdoor print magazines. She is Co-Owner of Rip and Hopper Adventure Roadtrip from Nashville, Tennessee, to Craig, Montana, and Co-Host for Rip & Hopper’s Adventures, Redfish Roadie Roadtrip.

Jen serves or has served as the Vice President of the Board of Directors for Professional Outdoor Media Association (POMA), a member of the Executive Board of Directors for Fly Fishers International, a member of the Executive Board of Directors for the Harpeth River Conservancy: one of the premier voices for women in fly fishing, a Board Member for the Advisory Committee for the TU Service Partnership and a Board Member for the American Fly Fishing Trade Association. She is an Original Tribe Member, Orvis 50/50 on the Water Initiative. Jen is an active volunteer and board member at her local TU and other conservation organizations, and is active in the promotion of the TU Women’s Initiative locally and nationally. She is a past volunteer, Huron River Watershed Council, Ann Arbor, Michigan.

She has been a Guest or Co-Host for numerous fly fishing Podcasts. Featured fly fishing guest on various local and network radio and TV shows nationwide. Jen has represented fly fishing and women as a featured guest and interviewee by making numerous appearances on local TV, CBS television, and NBC Nightly News.

Jen has organized for the Women’s Arena and Fishing, Travel and Outdoor Expo in Chicago as well as The Women’s Showcase, The Fly Fishing Show, numerous times in Colorado, Georgia, and New Jersey. She has been a Host, Guest Host, Emcee, Panelist, Panel Moderator, or Headliner for Fly Fishing Events, Festivals, Film Festivals, and Outdoor Events. She serves as a Fly Tyer, Fly Casting and Fly Fishing Instructor for clubs, events, expos, fly shops, retreats, saltwater events, seminars, women’s classes, and Orvis 101 from North Dakota, Michigan, Illinois, and throughout the south.

Jen is a published author of numerous articles in fly fishing, outdoor, and women-oriented magazines, a columnist for RiverQuest Charters’ monthly newsletter, and a Weekly Blogger for the Emergent Epicurean Muskegon River Lodge. She has been a Keynote Speaker, Featured Speaker, or Guest Speaker for dozens of various outdoor and fly fishing organizations. Jen is a TU National Photo Shoot model and an on-location fly fishing model for Orvis and St Croix Rods.

She has been named Southerner of the Year for Tennessee in 2018 by Southern Living Magazine and is considered one of the top women changing the sport of fly fishing. Named one of six women revolutionizing fly fishing by Blue Ridge Outdoors, March 2017. Named in the book 50 Women Who Fish in 2019. Jen is a professional angler and conference speaker who spends her time empowering anglers by teaching fly tying and casting clinics, speaking nationwide on a variety of topics, and devoting her time to conservation efforts through non-profits.


Jen was inducted into the category of Communications in 2023 for sharing her knowledge and experience as a writer and editor, instructor, teacher, and public speaker. A sounding board for women, Jen has created a home base for women worldwide to connect and engage in the art of fly fishing through speaking engagements, instruction, and events.
